Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Experimental Nuclear Physics
JLab Bridge Position

The Department of Physics at Virginia Tech invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in the area of experimental nuclear physics. The initial appointment, for a period up to five years, will be in partnership with the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (JLab) through the bridge program. This appointment carries release time of 50% (teaching/service) for up to the first five years in order to expedite research efforts at Virginia Tech and Jefferson Lab. We are seeking an individual with a primary interest in the physics program of hadronic and nuclear physics conducted at Jefferson Lab and potentially in the future at the proposed Electron Ion Collider. The successful individual will be expected to build a strong research program that will enhance the current programs at Virginia Tech and Jefferson Lab. Work will be performed both at the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg, VA and at JLab in Newport News, VA and it will require occasional travel to attend conferences and meetings.

The Virginia Tech Physics department has existing experimental research strengths in nucleon structure physics, weak interaction physics, neutrino physics, and heavy-flavor physics.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in physics or a closely related field by appointment start date. Postdoctoral experience is preferred.
